“A lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with his newly purchased operating system that’s designed to meet his every need.

Director: Spike Jonze
Writer: Spike Jonze
Stars: Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson”

To tell you the truth the description of the movie didn’t seem so appealing, but I was bored and didn’t want to search for other movies, so I thought why not, lets give it a try.

I am really glad I did cause I will tell you the truth, I cried, yes Her made me cry! Maybe my hormones are getting crazy, maybe I am getting to sentimental, too old, I don’t know but this romantic, strange, sad love story made my tears run away from my eyes like crazy.

An allegory of lonely guys, an picture of social loneliness caused by technology, an meditation on love? This movie gives u all in a funny, smart, warm, gentle, really gentle way 😀 No details cause I don’t want to spoil it for you. Please don’t watch the trailer, just take your boyfriend or girlfriends, make a lot of popcorn and watch it! Don’t forget about the tissues, u might need them 😀

Hey, who knows maybe in the future, this story will be an acceptable insanity of our society, so live the future a bit 😀

Hotel Chevalier by Wes Anderson

Hotel Chevalier- maybe you knew it, maybe you didn’t. If you are part of the category who didn’t, I would highly recommend it 😀  Is a short movie written and directed by Wes Anderson, is a prologue for the brilliant movie The Darjeeling Limited.

If you already seen it a few years ago, hey it’s always good to watch it again. I just remember this short, watched it and after I had to see The Darjeeling Limited again. A great movie. I just love the colours of the movie, a particularity of Wes Anderson’s films that I appreciate a lot.

Four Rooms

If u like the dark, strange, twisted in a funny way style of Quentin Tarantino, then u should watch Four Rooms. Now! Also if u are a fan of Robert Rodriguez masterpieces, watch it 😀

The movie is segmented in 4 parts, each weird in his own way.

Allison Anders (written by) (segment “The Missing Ingredient”)

Alexandre Rockwell (written by) (segment “The Wrong Man”)

Robert Rodriguez (written by) (segment “The Misbehavers”)

Quentin Tarantino (written by) (segment “The Man From Hollywood”)

The Mortality Paradox

Dreams are made of..., Film, Thoughts and words

“It is quite impossible for a thinking being to imagine nonbeing, a cessation of thought and life,” Goethe

Immortality, mortality. We all know that we are going to die one day, but how many of us can truly imagine a world without them inside?

All this started after i watched the movie “Kiss of the Damned”- one of the worst vampires movie since now! I guess i should have seen that coming after reading some reviews and seeing the score it got on IMBD, but still my obsession with vampires couldn’t be satisfied by some critics that don’t know what are they talking about, i thought. But, oh yesss i was so wrong and they were sooo right. The plot, or better the inexistence of one, the actors, the bad bad bad perspective of the director, the bad bad bad shooting, everything was, i think u got the point,  just bad. I don’t know why i watched it until the end, maybe i was waiting for the wowwww factor to change my mind about the all movie but yeah, that didn’t come. I am not talking as an professional film critic, but just as an fan of vampires movies, and this one can kick Twilight’s ass.

Anyway, the conclusion, don’t watch this movie if u want to see some good vampire action, nope, don’t! But after seeing this movie, i realised that i don’t know much about vampire’s history and one thing led to anther I found an interesting article about immortality based on the book  Immortality: The Quest to Live Forever and How It Drives Civilization, Cambridge University written by philosopher Stephen Cave.

Immortality-vampires, u see the connexion 😀

“On the one hand, our powerful intellects come inexorably to the conclusion that we, like all other living things around us, must one day die. Yet on the other, the one thing that these minds cannot imagine is the very state of nonexistence; it is literally inconceivable. Death therefore presents itself as both inevitable and impossible.”

A Royal Affair

Film, Thoughts and words

English: Cinema 4 at HOYTS, Forest Hill Shoppi...

A Royal Affair, a movie about “a young queen, who is married to an insane king, falls secretly in love with her physician – and together they start a revolution that changes a nation forever.” (IMDB)

Great movie!, i thought so I decided to go with two of my friends to see it at a movie festival that just started in our city.  We bought the tickets, made our stash of popcorn, Coke and candies and we entered in the cinema with a big smile on our faces, excited to see the Oscar nominated movie that everyone was talking about.

Then a guy comes in front of us and starts talking in a weird language we didn’t understand. We exchanged looks and i whispered “Did anyone check if the movie is subtitled in English”. And the response: “We thought u did…”. Of course we started laughing in our awkward way, probably disturbing all the people around us  then when the movie actually started. And suprise suprise it was in Danish with subtitles in an unknown language to us. Again a session of wild and noisy laughs and the three weirdos were staying in the middle of a cinema watching some pretty images and making up the lines for each character. We lasted almost 30 minutes and then made our big exit with choked laughs and maybe some applause for the other spectators. By the time we succeeded in opening the big cinema door we were red because we laughed so much and decided to go for beers.

After a few days I watched the movie from my comfortable bed and I have to say I was a bit disappointed cause i didn’t get the chance to have the cinema experience cause the landscapes were really good.  If u like history then is a good movie to watch: drama, romance, political games u get everything from this movie.

Lovelace, a movie based on the life of an porn star- Linda Lovelace. I admit in the first second I read the trailer i thought wowww a porn movie at Berlinale, now that’s a first. Then me and my sister decided to buy the tickets and see what this movie is about. “The story of Linda Lovelace, who is used and abused by the porn industry at the behest of her coercive husband, before taking control of her life.” That sounded pretty convincing for us:D To tell u the truth I didn’t know who was Linda Lovelace and neither did my sister and I was expecting one of those superficial, commercial, cheesy and stupid movies.  I was expecting almost two hours of pure boredom or at ta good nap, but I was surprised.

The first minutes of the movie seemed to be like the begging of another typical American film, but then it started. I don’t know if it was the atmosphere created by the film festival, the idea that i am in the same room with the directors and actors, or just the screen play and the hole movie but i really enjoyed it. I am not saying that is the best movie ever, but it is one movie that i would recommend any friend to see.

And yes, James Franco is much more cutter in real life than on the screen or maybe i just have a little bit of an obsession 😀

u don’t really need words to tell someone how u feel, don’t u?

This one reminded me why I love shorts and animations so much. Because they can say so many things in just a few minutes and they are just great! Do u think it’s cheesy and unrealistic? Duhhh is an romantic animation not real life, it is supposed to be like this. And the old style setting, the characters, the hand-made appearance, the silliness  is just enchanting for me and i admit it made me dream like a little girl about that prince on a white horse. I am smiling, are u?

I f u wanna see a different movie from the rest of the silly, commercial, not   need to think so much movies out there, I think Detachment is a really great one.  Dark and realistic, a movie that makes your brain stop for a while and then go in a windy storm of analyzing your ideas and life. I don’t know if that will happen to u, i guess it depends on your state of mind or on what kind of movies you prefer, but i say give this movie a chance it might surprise you.

So, enjoy!
